last day

Hey there everyone what's happening? Man I just finished this toy wrestling ring for my boys. Built it outta ripped 2x4's and other materials I had kicking about the house. It turned out nicely. This ring I managed to keep under the 40lb mark! Awesome. Usually when I build stuff, it's built to survive a tank, but I toned it down for the kids. You know so they can carry it and move it on their own. It turned out really awesome. I could have really easily bought a toy ring to play with, but let's face it. These are my boys and they destroy plastic. For about twice the price, to build this thing, it will last years upon years. If something breaks, it's really easy to pull apart and fix. this is the first toy I've built outta wood, and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking towards more challenges like this.
Brings me here.  So work isn't looking to promising, so, I've been looking at ways to make an income if the bottom falls out from under me. And I've been told, that, if you finish your job, that's pretty well it. There is little to nothing happening in the Ironworkers world. There's more on the non-union side of things, but I will not de-evolve to work for a scab company. I would and I will find work elsewhere than spit in my union brothers faces, and work scab. Ho knows, maybe building toys is my thing? It is a lot of fun, so who knows. I would like to step away from a career that is so hard on the body, but, if I have to shovel turds, then so be it. That's what I will do.
The family will pull through. This is nothing more than a blip on the big picture. Dreams and desires, take a strong second place and survival comes first. I know what to do to survive, and it's simply a matter of doing it.  This Christmas break was a fantastic break that I needed. Get away from people. Put the phone and the tablet and the computer away and I really got back to the family.  More than usual. I have submersed myself in the kids and wife and I as worried as I am, but we will come out better than before. We always do! Why? Because that's what we do. We command and conquer. That should be our family motto. Show up, take over and Run the place and leave, like journeyman.
In the mean time Kung fu has been great times.  Long and I are best buddies. Kempo is in there too, but more like that third wheel at this point. I keep up with kempo, but not as heartfelt as Long. I haven't been doing as much as I should have been this break, looking back, but that's cool. The form has kept its composure with me, and I with it.  And I can not get over, just how far I have come with the internal side of Long.  It's awesome! I love when I disappear into the Kung fu, how, everything in your mind, just simply flows into your body. Hands and feet become vectors of colours and sound, and it's so simple. It feels like the human body doesn't even exist.  Honestly it feels like I'm floating when I go there. Into the Kung fu void, if you will. And to think I used to have to use illegal drugs to get there, now, I use the Kung fu drug. The drug of breathing and using your internal harmonies if you might. I don't know how else to describe this feeling or this place. It, I don't know....it feels like a place of meditation, all calm and serene. It's usually bright, depending on my mood, but always a feeling of completeness. There is this specific smell, that I experienced years ago in this really intense hallucinogen that I used to use a lot of. And I thought I caught a whiff of it, while training. It surprised me threw me for a loop, because this drug takes you on a very much out of body experience. And certain sounds and smells comes with this place, that you visit. I called it the other side. It's where I met the grim reaper and learnt to not fear death! That's where the reaper on my right arm came from. Haha. Sounds crazy, and maybe it is, but it's an experience that's makes me "me". But, anyways, these smells I've held onto for years and I think I caught a whiff of it the other night. Oh I was excited. I got there to that place, again, but on my own. Crazy, man, I never thought I'd see the day that I could get to that place without the use of narcotics.  Awesome! That my friends is progress. I've been chewing on the smell for years and almost gave up on finding it again. Such a magical smell. The smell of calm. If calmness had a smell, this is the scent I search for, while in meditation. I know that smell anywhere. And it is not anywhere, it's right there! If that makes sense to you. If not, I'll see ya soon

Anyhow, that's enough rambling on for now
Thanks for your time

Calm, like a tornado

Good day to all. What's cracking? Enjoying your Christmas gifts and family? Let's hope so. I know I am.  Well, let's kick this quick, I've got more family to hang with. Never ending.
So, Long has been very rewarding. I'm really getting into it.  I've got the motions and essence of this form, but, now I'm working on stances and intentions. This far in the form, I've been doing it with eyes shut.  Concentrating on getting the body to remember what's the next step. Muscle memory. Now, I need to break the stances into high gear. Time to make this form really work for me.
Man, I'm loving the disappearing into Kung fu.  That has really served me. Especially with all the stress that comes with Christmas time.  I have a hard time calming down some days. Some days I would like to fire up chuck and get swinging, but, I really want to curb this temper of mine.  There are days I just cannot slow down and breath. Smoking doesn't help, but that's beyond the point right now.  You know the feeling. You start getting mad, the mind becomes confused and cloudy. Actions don't make sense and then the verbal diarrhea comes out.  There are a few tools I have to help combat my temper. But the one thing that truly helps, Kung fu. I don't need to be physically practicing it, even just thinking about it helps ground me.  If I'm really agitated, talking to someone about Kung fu. Describing the motions, tearing into what it means for me. Explaining how Kung fu has served me, instantly takes me out of my head and into service if you might.  There's my passion though. Kung fu is my passion and I have goals short and long term that revolve around Kung fu. So revisiting these goals and what not, really helps take me back to what I am doing this for.
One thing I have been looking at and working towards is a safe place for children to hang and play and express themselves with out fear of ridicule and hovering parents.  There are so many variables involved here. It's a lot more than just renting a hall for an hour a week. Man alive, things like pedophiles, insurance, what ifs, like what happens if a younger child needs help in the washroom? What happens if someone says something silly, like I was inappropriate with a child. One thing I will fight you for is the safety a loving place for children. No not coddled, but supportive.  So looking at doing this on a larger scale, is, well, kinda scary. But, it is the way of the world today. I'm not giving up on this, but, further reaserch is needed.  More conversations with people who work with children. I  know a social worker, and next time we meet, I will be talking about more details of this topic.  My end goal with this is something like this.  A place for kids to go, from ages of 6-16, to go and hang out. Introduce ways with these kids to positively express themselves. Through artwork, poetry, writing and positive actions.  I would like to grab one of the older kids and teach them the ways of a positive role model for some of the younger ones. Or something along those lines. It's still very much a paper dream. This is something that might just have to wait until I am a black belt. More for legal and reputable reasons.  But, that's cool. Right now though, I can reach out to some kids. There are a few kids that come and hang out on Wednesday nights. And there is this little girl, who's like, Will are you gonna draw with me? And I don't even have my work boots off. Okay kido, please give me a moment. And then we draw and colour. I ask that she's draws whatever she likes, as long as she does the best that she possibly can. And you know what? He artwork has flourished. I make sure she knows that too. There are things at her home, that, really aren't that positive. I grew up in a home that was a lot like her's. So I can really sympathize with her. I remember this one day, boy she was saucy. So I said to her, kido, I can not draw with out my secret power. Do you know what that is? It's your smile. So if you can give me a great big smile, then I can totally draw all night long. So she hides her face and pretends that she not smiling. And then we coloured. I never forget to tell her, that she means something to me. That she is an awesome kid. And she is very unique and has the potential to rule the world! Man I love kids. Best thing ever.
Anyhow, there are people walking up my font stop, and I'm still in pjs.
Gotta go folks.
See you soon

The "long" of it

hey there everyone. You like what I did there? The "long" of it?! Haha. I'm so funny. Well, that's what I've been focusing on lately. Long I & II. I had long I down to a t. Then I started to work out long II and somehow managed to get the two terribly confused.  That's okay though. Steady progress and I think I've almost got it licked now.  Now I just need to stay slow and steady.  Stances, and intention.  Bring that dragon out and smash this outta the park.  The turning point I believe, for the form, was simply changing my perception of it.  Dragons breath, dragons intent, dragons energy. I don't know about you guys, but from what reaserch I've completed on the dragon, they don't move unless they want to. And they don't waste their energy.  Very peculiar very precise movement. So if you are making a dragon move, then you best be on your allstar game. Like all of our animals, they move with distinct purpose and intent, nor do they waste energy. The dragon, in particular, is such a powerful entity, that he doesn't have to move if he doesn't want to. Why would you when your only equal is the Phoenix? They control the rivers, the winds. They command the earth and bow down to only the imperial emperor.  Kinda sounds like Darth Vader. My kinda guy.  When they do move, from how I understand and depending on what dragon it is in particular, they move to a rhythm of un-heard music. Rather that this music is almost incomprehensible by the human ear.  But, through meditation and concentration, you too can hear this music.  It is in our lineage. It is what we do. It is Kempo Kung Fu.
I had a crazy bit of an experience with this form, and that was getting lost in it and, hearing the Kung fu. Feeling the Kung fu.  Something almost magical.  You can feel it, you can hear it, you can see it with your mind, but you can not physically touch this magic.  You, touch it, with your movements.  And, well, its best explained, if you check it out.   Whatever form you are working on.  Try this.  When you feel confident in your form, close your eyes and just let your body move. Feel, the Kung fu come through you. Be aware of your body, but do not pay much attention to it.  Be aware you are stepping and blocking, but do not force it. Be aware of the chi running through your veins.  But do not pay attention to it.  Allow Kung fu to do its job, and maybe you will see the Kung fu in your minds. It's the same concept as Tai-Chi. For me, when I disappear into Kung fu, it's almost like streaks of light moving where your limbs are. With each movement a vibration in the molecules around you is created, thus creating a humming noise. This humming noise, depending on how deep into you are, creates music. For me it is a slight humming, but, with purpose. And when this is done with flow and intention, the music comes forth. I believe that's out six harmonies working.
I'm no master martial artist, nor do I get this wonderful experience each and every time.  But, I do look forward to and cherish this time spent with Kung fu.  When, I do get to this place in the universe, I feel invincible. But I also feel peace. It feels like I could take on an Mack truck and come out unscathed, but I would rather step out of the way,  ya know?
I try to hold onto that same place when I take to the heavy bags. It's harder here to get there, wherever there is. More to concentrate on, especially with a heavy bag bouncing around. This area has some what eluded me, more than other areas of training the mind and body to work together without thinking about it.   I just get excited when I start hitting things.  Still working on not letting unthoughtful actions take over, but more thoughtful reactions. Been a long journey, but, well worth it.   And to be quite honest, pushing on Long has really helped get back to a place of calmness. First, I was thinking and processing, now, I'm trying to be Long. If this works like results have already  shown, I will apply this to each and every form I've ever learnt! That's exciting just thinking about it.
Effortless effort being the end goal.

"No longer do I practice Long, but, rather, I practice being Long"

quite quickly

Holy cold batman. It's a great start to winter.  Let's just dive right into it. Sounds great. Well I'm not too sure what to say today.  Class was great on Thursday.  The Demo is looking good.  Looking real good.  It's real awesome to see how things and line ups get changed around and everyone adapts so nicely.  That's real cool.  there are some really cool weapon forms, that are looking really good.  You guys are awesome.  I had lots of fun.

In my form there's a transition into a horse stance, and it feels sloppy. You know, it works, but it doesn't really work.  Putting in these extra reps, I'm just not liking it. So, further practice on that part is needed.  For me I find, when I get stuck on a part of a form evolving, just go over it and let the Kung fu take over. The answers will come. Repetition of the same part allows the body and mind to get to where it wants to be. And I do believe that our minds and bodies will find the easiest or simplest way to do a technique. I have been told that simplicity is one of the keys in martial arts.  Looking for the efficient way to do something. Use as little energy as possible.  Right so, That transition not only feels sloppy it costs me energy because it's so sloppy. Hmm okay.  Makes perfect sense. Time to evolve there.

desires

Well howdy do neighbors. So, how was your day?  Mines going well, it is.  Before we get to Kung fu, let's go here. On my last blog, a comment was made about understanding the desire to smoke, or drink for that matter.  So, today I'm going to try to answer that.
The desire to drink or to use, was once upon a time a desire to fit in. A desire to feel better about yourself. A desire to make friends. A desire to be different. A person like me, I had very few friends growing up, and alcohol gave me the courage to talk to people. The courage and strength to say things normallly I wouldn't say.  When you're feeling good from the effects, anything can come out of your mouth. You turn from a duck into an eagle. Actions you normally wouldn't take, have been taken.  There was also peer pressure, but let's face it. Nobody ever held a gun to my head and said drink this. So peer pressure arguments only go so far, then you really got to look at yourself. It's not your buddies making you do this, it's you, making you do this.  But a sick alcoholic or addict, will never will-fully look at themselves and say, yup, this consequence is a direct result of my actions. No! No, they do not say that. Maybe one in ten....say it and mean it, maybe. They say things like, oh my dad didn't hug me enough, or I was beaten or I was assaulted as a kid, which gave me all sorts of issues, but, no, it's not my fault I am here, it's some one else's fault.  That's the easier softer way. Do note, that yes those things happen, and they are really hard to deal with, and not everyone knows of a better way. I do agree, there are many still suffering that are out there, that just, pure and simply do not know any better.  There are arguments and situations, that may be "unique" to this un-written rule, but, I can and will argue with you, on the merits of that argument. Yes, there's also the desire to be an anarchist, and not listen to your folks and the elders in your life.  The desire to be a free loving hippie teenager, is also there.  The desire to be free. Free from society, free from others expectations.  Free to do whatever I want. All of these desires and many more are because, you don't like something about you. Dually noted. Right then.
In my eyes and experiences, all of the above mentioned "desires" if you might, are fairly good reasons to try and experiment new things.  Nothing wrong with experimenting.  Lord knows I've done enough experimenting with enough things that, my perception has forever been changed on a lot of topics and life issues.  But, what I'm wanting to say is this. With many, eventually, the desire to be something you are not, gets lost in translation, and the desire turns into habit. Now, this is the volatile variable. This variable is different for everyone.  This is the TSN turning point, where experimentation, turns into addiction. For some people it's after one sip or one hit. For others, they can drink or use their whole life and addiction never rears its ugly head.  I was one of the for-mentioned. And having drugs and alcohol turn into addiction so quickly, that, experimentation is hidden under an excuse. And excuses is nothing more than a rationalization. And rationalization is giving a socially accepted reason for socially unacceptable behaviour. And socially unacceptable behaviour is another form of insanity. And if insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results every time, you can see how closely the two items are tied into each other. It's really a vicious cycle, that most don't even realize they are doing or are in. Now let's pause and think of the still sufferer who does not know the items I just stated. That same paragraph would look like this:
Dude, I don't know! No idea why, I'm doing this again....Yes, I do remember last weekend and being arrested. I do remember smashing my truck. Yes. That does suck, but, don't worry, I'll take it easy tonight. I just need this right now. I need it.....And the cycle is on repeat. Most of us are in DENIAL. Don't Even Notice It's A Lie. But if you don't know, you don't know. A major inner awakening or mass spiritual enlightenment is needed at this point. No more labels or confusion, just keep it simple so I can understand. This brain is damaged and doesn't work "right". My spirits been shattered and my heart is hurting. So I put on this rough exterior and take another sip, and I'm that eagle again. And this disease wins again.  This short and curly of it is this, "most alcoholics, for reasons yet unknown, have lost the power of choice in drink. Our so called will power becomes practically nonexistent. We are unable, at certain times, to bring into conscience with sufficient force the memory of the suffering and humiliation of even a week or a month ago. We are without defence against the first drink." And the circle rages on and on.

So in Kung fu news, I had a terrible cold/flu like thing this week and I'm just getting over the chest part of it.  I think part of it is a detox from the serious cigarette cut back, I've managed to hold onto. Right up to Thursday night I was whipped. Feel a lot better now. I pulled the escrimas out for a little on saturday, after kiddos birthday party. This week, I am dedicating myself to them. I have been putting them on the back burner. I don't know why, I'm really happy when I am playing and working the escrimas. I have been focusing on hand forms and I am happy with how kempo and long are both progressing.  I really really like long hand form.  Such purpose to every move. And thinking about long before I get into it, is something that I really enjoy. Long is Chinese for dragon. And dragon stands for our spirit and our breath. For me, the form took a whole new stance after I applied those thoughts to this form. Very empowering. Trying to figure out long II is a lot of fun.  I really enjoy the challenge.

Well, I figure I've gone on long enough
Have a nice week

what a day

Hello internet! Why it's a fine day indeed. This house is whipped I tell you what. We took our youngest to a live wrestling event in the north end last night, for his birthday.  I was telling him that we were going to a pizza factory last night and he's like, I don't want to go. Ohh, that's too bad buddy, get in the car. It will be fun, trust me.  We bought the tickets a few weeks ago, and got the meet and greet with Cody Rhodes! Don't know him eh? That's cool. He's a former wwe competitor and as talented as he is, his character, just did not take off. So, they let him go and he's back wrestling rec centres and school gyms. Wow, what a line up, it was last night. All the big names for the PWA were there preforming.  Six hundred people rammed into this small little rec Center.  Unfortuanatly, the noise was too much for the youngest, and we needed to leave early.  It looks like he has a ear infection and noise makes those things worse. So, he was a huge trooper and he tried so hard to stay and watch but, he couldn't do it.  I honestly didn't know it was hurting that badly. I felt terrible. He was in my lap, with my hands cupped over his ears. And I'm like, man, should we go little dude. And then the tears started. Yes please daddy, I want to go home, he says through tears. Okay. And we missed the main event. Cody Rhodes vs MRB. I was disappointed, but, it doesn't matter. My boys come first and I explained to the oldest, that we stick together. We are a family and if one of us falls down, we all stop and help each other up.  Then he was cool with it. He tried his earnest to get his little bro smiling again and I complimented him a lot for stepping up and being the bigger man. I mean we did get to meet cody Rhodes, and get our picture with him.  So, whatever, we can watch his matches on YouTube. It's good enough. Next time, I'm bringing our shooting ear muffs for the youngest.  My ears were popping too. The roof exploded numerous times and even I was like ouch. And I'm deaf. Haha.
So, I have been working real hard in quitting smoking. Sifu Brinker and I sat down and he asked me to do something. Look at my smoking through his eyes. Then I can watch from an outsiders perspective, just what I am doing myself.  That was a mind twist.  I took the challenge and am floating around six to eight smokes a day. That's a far cry from twenty five a day, less than a week ago. It's been a really rough week, and yesterday proved to be terrible for me. I finally asked for help.  I could not keep myself calm and collected. Demos don't really bother me. I really don't mind doing Kung fu in front of strangers.  I just go and give the best that I got and let things fall into place. It helped my grandma was there, by fluke. But, still I was unable to calm down, my breathing was erratic and my mind was gone. I remember this one fool, looking at us. Nothing bad, just checking us out, and I wanted to smash his teeth in.  That's when I'm like, okay, help please. And Sifu Brinker again, gave me some tips and hints. He helped get me smiling again.  Boy will you kinda picked a bad day to quit smoking! I don't know when it is ever a good day. Off to the airplane movie! "Surly, you can fly this plane? Yes, but don't call me Shirley again!"  Got my mind off things and I started to calm down.  Right on.  The rest of the day was a struggle, but, I stayed fairly mentally strong and didn't fall into the depression that comes with quitting.  And I was at wrestling. How could you want to smoke at an awesome event like that.  These guys are inspiring to me.  The things the do, with such ease causes admiration in my eyes.  I love how they push and push and they are whipped out taking huge falls and hits and, they keep getting up.  Their stamina is something I'm jealous of. And I want it.  I will get it, I just gotta remember one day at a time.  One moment at a time. And I too can have what they have.
So, I will continue pressing hard on my smoking.  It really helps when your partner at work is rooting for you too. This guy has had my back more times than I can count, and it's really really swell.  The thing that gets me, is he has never given up on me. Even when I'm at my worst and I want to kill, he gets me smiling and laughing, usually by making fun of me!  Haha.  It's okay, because I'm cool with making fun of myself and so is he! The escrimas did better than I thought, but there is defenatly room for improvement.  No problem, it's time I start talking life seriously again and really push for my goals.  I am shooting for the end of the month to be an ex-smoker. Just imagaine the possibilities then.  Mix the determination and skill set with an ability to breath! Look out. I think, I can accomplish this much, while a smoker, just think what I WILL do as a non-smoker. Oooohhhhh snap! Look out mofos, this is going to be great.

Only, one day at a time
Well until next time folks,
See you here same bat-channel, same bat-time next week!

Re-Up

Hey there everyone. Nope no rants today! I'm in a better place than last week.  Day to day week to week, people change. People change from conversation and informing themselves. You can change a viewpoint with a statement. You can make people think twice. That's what happened, with last weeks conversation.  You have not immediately change my mind on things Sifu, but, you did get ol' willie thinking twice about a couple of things.  Good stuff.
Evolution and growth.  Something, I of myself I have placed high up on my priority charts. These last few years, the adult years of my life, I wanted to change and grow.  Start living instead on existing.  Take life and chi sao with it.  Flow and move with it. I fought for many years, stood rigid and tall on my ways, if you might.  I saw a better way of life and it asked me to become flexible in my ways of life.  Put down the drink and drugs, pick up coffee and books.  Look at myself not any one else.  Find and draw out those defects of character and work on them. Become the person you were supposed to be all along.  Realizing what programs have done for me, I wish to help the still sufferer.  Spread the good word to the still lost.  Above all, I want to help before it's too late and suicide becomes your only option.  Why? "I have been there and it's not that cool of a place.  You don't need to go there, if you don't want, but, you can if you want. I just want to show this other way of life. I just want you to see this. Please, open your eyes." My cause, my fight, the people I stand up for are the addicts, the alcoholics, the people lost in a bottle. Because it's my daily fight. It's what keeps me up at night. It's what helps me justify bad behaviour.  And,  for the sake of the argument, I would push the "pusher man" Those who enable, those who know what they are doing and it's wrong. Pushing an addiction for whatever reason is wrong.  If I saw it in the street I would like to believe, I would do what is the right thing.
Where is this coming from? Man I heard this song by Macklemore, Drug Dealer, listen to it, and it brought up thoughts of my young cousin. He had a heck of a time with addictions, and could not find a way out. I really missed him yesterday.  He left when I was at my worst. He was the only person I had. The only person who called or talked to me. I was alone. Everyone else barely tolerated me. I fell really far really fast. Lost all control and dreament up all sorts of topics in my mind. But his passing was a blessing in itself. It saved my life. In a sense, he sacrificed himself, to show me, what was going to happen to both of us. I was one of the lucky ones who got the hint and came out on top, so to speak.  Taking a long time time, but I'm a far distance of where I was. Now, this week, I'm seeing the same path of my cousin, in another younger fellow, that I hang out with. I want to shake him until he realizes what he can have, if he works for it. Shake him, like you're throwing away all these opportunities man. What the what??
But, I need to stop and look through his eyes and see, his life in his shoes. Then, once I see how he ticks can I learn how to reach him.  I just learnt that. Yeah! Progress. One step each day in the direction of my unltimate goals, and I will get there.
I will wrap up on this thought. Last night on the heavy bag, I'm reviewing my day and I had this thought. With my arguments and thoughts on addictions and alcoholism, how do I differ from, other groups that stand for change? Whoa! Stopped in my tracks. That's a humbling thought.....

Thanks
Mr.Duncan

A Rant

Good day people in internet world. How goes it today?  Well, yesterday proved to be an exciting meeting.  About blogging and what to blog about.  I don't normally dabble in the politics, mainly because, it's a farce of a system, that worked okay for a few thousand people, not a couple million. And it's lead by corporations.  I do not have faith that politicians have our, the people's best interests in mind when they get into "power". Isn't that a bit of a contradiction of itself? We are all equal, but this guy right here is going to make decisions based on 359 million people with how many different views on the same topic? No, that's ludacris. Everyone in today's day and age is screaming equality, from the trannies to the handicap. Everyone wants to be treated fairly. Okay, you would think that's an easy thing to do, but for some reason, it's not.  Personally, I don't care if you're purple, wear clown costumes, gay and believe in a fable that has no solid eveidence of it ever happening. In short,  like many many people don't care. Just don't hurt others. Go be gay. Go be straight, go believe in whatever you want. Just quit shoving it in people's faces and ramming it down others throats. You're not special. That's the problem. Everyone is "special" so they need separate rules or special conditions, because conforming to the greater good is too hard for some of these people. And from what I see and hear from having this conversation with others, the general public is sick of hearing it. It's offensive to say what I just said. It is. One or two of you might want to hit me! Good do it!  This was just dropped on me the other day. If you don't care you're part of the problem. I hear the argument, but it is invalid.  I was told, that not caring how people want to live their lives and me not wanting get involved in their little cause, hinders the message spreading. That's cool. Think what the you want, that's not true. I'm all for equality. Everyone single person deserves every opportunity available to them. And I hope they get whatever they want. But guess what, not everyone is meant to be an astronaught. Should I go and start screaming at NASA because I can't be an astronaught? No that's ridiculous Will. That's right, and so is your argument. Not everyone should be prime minister. Especially a failed drama teacher. When does fighting for a cause turn to simply whining? At the exact moment, you put your cause above everyone else. Let's take black lives matter, for instance. As far as I can see and tell, they are no different than the klu klux klan. Both scream for attention. Both feel their way is the only way, and, here's the kicker, both have put one skin colour above all the others.  But, it's offensive to say, all lives matter, not just black people. If that's the case "Clown lives matter" oh wait, that's already taken. Because, I'm not empathetic to their cause? No, because I don't believe that any one should go around promoting violence towards another group of people saying they are the only ones that matter.  And then say, oh we stand for equalit too........
So, here we go.  This leads me to Trump. From what I see, trump stands for people who are sick and tired, of all this offensive garbage that's out there. All this banning of this and that and don't say that. It's not boys and girls anymore it's zits and zips or whatever it is.  Like the banning of clown costumes. Or the offensive Native American costumes. It's a costume for crying in the rain. Get over yourself.  They reply with, this promotes a rape culture?? It's all in the appearance of it. Oh right,  that's the problem, everyone is caught up in appearances. Really, some person dressing as a native promotes the raping of natives? Pretty sure rape isn't inclusive to natives and natives alone. Sounds like more people need a hobby.  While we are at it, just ban Halloween, because some flipping lunatic's kid got scared of a bowl with a mechanical hand that goes Boo. Trumps election is the push back from this "offended culture" we live in.  From the little hipsters and their confused sense of who they are, to the  social media warriors, who like to sit and hide behind a screen trolling comments and pictures just waiting for the opportunity to take someone's personal believes and complain about them because it doesn't fit thier skewed own personal opinions. Screaming racism or bigotry. Do you know what the sun looks like? That is the question I wonder.  Trumps election is because people, who normally don't care what you say or do, as long as you don't hurt or hinder someone else, is saying, okay we have had enough. This censorship has gone too far.  This is supposed to be a free country, and I can't say what's on my mind. Quit telling me how to speak, how to walk, what to like, quit telling me my thoughts are wrong, quit saying it's only me. Even after I've admitted defeat and said yeah your point is valid, doesn't mean I'm going to bend over for you.  Do I wander around saying white lives matter? No that racist.......But saying black lives matter isn't? You want equality, but you can not even practice equality in your own words and actions.  Un-flipping-believeable.  Your whole group is built on a practice of racism. I'm an arsehole and I know it.  It's not something I strive for, but it comes naturally, why, because I am that guy. I will say what's on my mind, if it's going to help the situation, or if the whole situation is getting silly. If it isn't, I keep it to myself. This blog is just a

straight up very censored rant. Sometimes I say things when I shouldn't, maybe like this whole blog. But it's my blog and it's my thoughts. Because I can't say what I want without hurting someone's feelings, no, I'm offended that you find my thoughts offensive. It's a free country and you need people like me. To offer the push back. To offer the other side of things. You don't like me? Oh here, you can be the first one one the list of people who don't like me!! Haha. I love that line.
It sure sounds like I'm a Trump supporter, and I'm not. I'm not about walls being built. I'm not about keeping people out because they are Muslim or black or orange. What's going to happen when aliens present themselves to the public? Oh my god is that going to blow everyone's shallow minds. Like I said, I really don't care about a pretend system, that doesn't make a difference. A pretend system that caters to the one percent. We all know that corporate companies run the countries.  You don't think so? How much money from corporate companies gets poured into elections? Then how many corporate pigs gets thier agendas pushed through? Let's look at walmart.  One of the truest forms of corporate devils. They pay, minimum wage, at just below enough hours so they don't have to provide benefits and pensions. Keep everyone part timers and your don't have to pay for health care and such.  Keep the workers just floating with their noses above water, then say, you should be grateful for being employed here. While the owners are flipping billions upon billions of profit. Oh my sweet mother of pearl.  And yet people who scream equality, forget that and still shop there to safe a buck or two. Hypocrite. Plain and simple. Starvation could be ended by the one percent, but they won't, because there is no money in that. That why.
I for one am glad something like Trump happened. Either that or the same old same old political families in office again. But I see bush is in with Trump. Oh good, another glittering idiot! And I hope that it is the kick back that this planet needs. Is there going to be a massive war? Maybe, but, Maybe this is the falling apart we need to pull together and say, you know what, we are equal, we just need to quit being special. How about we quit handing out participation ribbons. How about we put the soccer ball back in soccer. How about we start evolving, instead of fighting to see who is more equal then the next person.  People need to realize that just because you want to do something doesn't always mean that you get to.  That's called life kid, get used to it. I didn't want to be an addict alcoholic when I was a kid. Hell no, I was going to be a nhl hockey player! So, maybe I should petition the NHL and say they are responsible for me getting rejected at tryout and that's why I turned to booze and drugs. Yeah, that takes the ownis off of me and onto something else. Now I don't have to look at myself, I can just blame someone else for me being the way I am, and being unwilling to look at my own personal limitations. You think it's a far cry, But it's not.   Like lil Johnny in a wheel chair, wants to play hockey. Not sledge hockey, that's not for him, no he's going to be the next Wayne Gretzky. No, no you're not. But even still, everyone needs to slow down for an "equal opportunity" so Johnny and his wheel chair can play hockey at a competitive state?!? Maybe we as a human race can learn and grow together.  People all have different strong and weak points. That's what makes us great, is we are all different, now recognize that and get on with life. Of course high schools tough, but just wait until you get into the non-sheltered real life and you get eaten alive because mommy isn't there to tell your boss differently. Then what are you going to do? Cry and piss and moan, let's hope you're not my partner. No, you pick it up and work harder, or you find a different job. It is that simple. Otherwise, we would all be presidents.   You adapt in your field or you move onto something different.

Anyhow, I should get back to my day. Family portraits. But that's a rant for another day.
Talk at you soon
Mr.Duncan

"It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that" as if gives them certain rights. It's no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose,  it has no reason to be respected as a phrase.
I'm offended by that!
Well, so f*cking what"

Sell It!

Well, it is Sunday again. The family is gone to make some perogies and I get to chill in silence! That is a great thing. I do enjoy me some quiet time!  Leaves me wondering what to do today. Well, let's do some Kung fu, get some forms in. I'm going to try my hand a baking, next, after I write this blog. I'm thinking chocolate chip cookies. Heck yeah! This will be interesting. Considering these recipes, people use phrases like work the dough, not for chocolate chip cookies, but other recipes. What the heck is that? So, I ask the wife. She laughs, oh you're serious?! You need to kneed the dough. Oh okay, use a word I really don't understand. You mean I should put the cat in the dough? What the what is wrong with you people? Okay, it's not that bad, but, I'm calling my mom or asking the wife, what do I do now? Haha.  It is a good challenge. Learning to bake stuff.  I wanted to make my kinda cookies but, I can't take that stuff to work. So, normal cookies it is.
On the Kung fu side of things, training with my fellows is a lot of fun. I've been working a lot still with Sihing on his five techniques. We started with his knife defence and in a short period of time, we had a good technique, turned into a awesome technique.  Rep after rep after rep, with a lot of conversation and being aware of what he is doing and him being aware of what I am doing. How my body is reacting, how the locks are working. What is he doing?  What happens when he does this instead of that.  It's a great tool for both of us. For myself, I get to see how, technique development is done at a higher level, and in turn it gives me a greater insight as to the movements of our lineage if you might.  Staying close and true to what we have been taught, kempo style Kung fu, he can build a technique that stays close to home and for him highly efficient. The personalization of his techniques of kempo Kung fu we have been taught. It's cool to see.
On a deeper sense with working with a partner, you know at first, no matter how much you like this person, there is still that little bit of mental resistance to just giving someone you arm and saying here, use this to drive me into the ground. That's right lock up my arm and drive me into the ground. Ensure your knee digs that soft spot and really destroy all of it.  One slip up or brain fart, and my arm is over. So, over time you developed a mutual respect and trust between each other where you, the stabber or the gun wielded, are willing to go faster and harder, once the technique itself has been pounded out. Once the speed and technique have been sorted out, the. You have "fun" with it. And the realism of it all is brought into play.  For myself, that is where the fun of it all comes in.  As some of you may have noticed, I like wrestling. Not that Olympic stuff. Oh no, I like the wwe. Body slams and elbow drops! Whooooo! There in that world, it is all about "selling the move" its easy, even as on outsider with no training to see, if some one is selling the showing or just there.  The real successful guys can sell ice cubes to Eskimos, and you see it in their actions and movements. So, no, we don't have to build a show like they do, but we still need to sell snow cones to an Eskimo, if you might. That's the real fun part. The timing of it all, the cry of pain and the smashing into the ground. The twitch of the legs when the throat chop comes down. Sell that stuff man! Sell it!! But, like I mentioned, it's all about trusting each other and listening to your partner.  I need faith that he's not going to rip my foot off, and he needs faith that I'm not going to do something silly, like over resist, or saying no it doesn't hurt when you can feel your tendons being torn apart. Haha. Great times!!
Lately, I have been focusing on the curriculum more than anything.  I have paid attention to the candidates this year and have watched them train. It's awesome to see how much they are training. Only training around them once a week, its really cool watching them. And I said to myself, "Will, if we want our black belt, maybe I can learn from what these guys do. And maybe, I can save myself some stress and anxiety." So, I have learnt from just watching what these three strong willed individuals have been doing and I have started taking steps to implement a black belt mentality into my green belt training now.  And I hope to continue to build these regiments of training, now, so I don't get too overwhelmed when I do start into the black belt year. And geeze, it's not that far away. It truly isn't.  One maybe two years away.  And then I start the push for my black belt. Okay, let's stick to the plan at hand and we can hopefully get a jump on one or two items before they hit me in the face.  With that being said, I have heard, you know to focus on the task at hand as well, do t get caught looking into the future or you will never get there, but, train for your blue belt, like it's a black belt.  Ensure I have the curriculum of belts before me, understood and pounded out while working on the next belt level.  Constant progress while keeping everything else up to par. Keep the basics tight and everything else will fall into place.  I'm really looking forward to the next little while, of continued practice of the coloured belts in once accomplished and progress towards the mighty blue belt.  Soon you will be mine blue belt. Soon.

Well, I best get baking.
Have a great day

Tiger challenge 2016

Hi everybody!  How's it going eh? Well, I'm doing great. Fabulously fantastic I am!  I'm still floored that I was named Grand Champion of my division. Man, that's surreal.  Again, it was one of those I'm not sure of what I'm doing things. Had to get my boys, threw out some best wishes and good lucks high fives and peaced out.  Later Sihing, is like, hey good job today on your championship! I was confused. I'm the what? I said to him. Oh wow, that's fantastic.  I do wish that I was there to hoist that s.o.b. Throw out some poses and start talking smack! Drop a duplex through the judges table and drop the Dad's elbow! Haha! But, alas, I was not.  That's cool. Next year, I will have to shoot for it again.  Truly, grand champ was not on my mind.  I took it out of my mind and approached the tournament with the just go have fun and do the best you can thought process.  After, I botched my escrimas, I shook off the "seriousness" and just wanted to have fun. I ran through my escrimas form a few times Friday night. Felt great about it, and completely forgot like two thirds of the form. I was told I hid it well, until I shook my head out of confusion, right at the end. Haha!! Next year. I did well in the sparring.  A couple of really close matches. Kudos to the fellow sparrers, I had some really great matches.
I do want to say, my proudest moment during the tournament was watching my youngest boy and the other two youngsters from onoway.  Those three kids, made me so proud. The three of them came, had a blast and did really well.  Between the three of them they accumulated eleven medals! I was like wow! That's incredible.  You guys are awesome.  Immediately after they were done, I stole them to get some pictures to send to Sifu. I secretly wanted to hold onto that moment in time as well. I think it was there I realized something, that changed my outlook for the day.  These little kids had no clue on what they were doing, they were there to just straight up have fun. And that's what they did.  They were like, we got these metal things. Oh, those are called medal. These are so cool! Yeah look at all the colours I got Mr.D! Why yes that's a real nice collection you have there.  I'm proud of you!  And the endless smiles were everywhere!!
And again, I'm going to go here. Children are my inspiration. Children are the hope and pleasure I hold onto. I love kids so much. As long as they have fun and do their best, that's all I care about.  As long as you try your hardest, no one can say nothing about your efforts! I know I won't. Just do your best, then do a little bit better. I was really proud of young Mr.Fodor.  His sparring has been okay, for a young man.  We worked a lot with him to help him keep his guards up and to breath. He gets really excited like I used to and you loose focus and get frustrated and that turns to anger. Then you might as well as just lay down for the three count, because it's over at that point. I see it in his eyes.  So, we worked hard on breathing through the match. Nice clean punches, in and out quick.  He forgot some of his lessons, but, took some great strides in composure.  That was the best I've ever seen him do.  He keeps this up, I'm in big trouble soon.
All in all, I had a great tournament, watched some really awesome hand and weapon forms. Mrs.B, had an awesome broadsword form. Ohh, that was smooth, and Mrs.T's kempo is Tony the Tiger great.

I'm just going to wrap up in saying this, one more time.  Thank you to all the judges, volunteers and compedators. You guys made my day amazing.  And thank you Sifu Brinker, for hosting the tournament and giving us all the opportunity to compete in such a manner. You guys really made my day. Thank you

I will see you guys soon, like Saturday
Thanks for your time.

Holler

Okay today is the day we write blogs. lets keep this short and sweet shall we.  Open training was a really good time.  I received a lot of hints and tips on kempo.  While Sifu was going over certain parts of kempo that need work, theory and more of a realistic application conversation came about.  Man, I love times like that.  Kempo, as a form, has taken a complete one eighty.  Last year this time I was done with kempo.  This year, I am having a lot of fun with it still.  I'm learning a lot more about the form, this year I think is the big difference.  Last year I was after numbers, this year I'm after, understanding the form, I suppose. I'm not sure how to put it.  But, that way will do.  It's coming along strongly.  These lots of work to be had, but, when isn't there?
Escrimas are doing well.  We were playing last night;) and there was a lot of breakeage of limbs!  I mean I was striking against the heavy bag with them. Thats something I like to do a lot of; striking actual things instead of whooshing in the winds.  It's nice to see results like pushing a heavy bag around with the sticks of death.  The escrimas are like, even medicated I'm not safe to come and play. Hey.  Runs on the lawn, what's going on? Scream shout and laugh smell that fueel, chopping that heavy bag in half. Stab, slash and hack like some crazed lumberjack. Ahh! It's a tear in my eye kinda feeling! Ya know!? Something you get just really excited for. Thats the feeling I get when I have the mighty escrimas in my hand. Elbow drop!
Tournament is right around the corner and boy I'm excited. This is the youngest first tournament and he's jacked.  He has no idea, but he doesn't care. He wants to compete. Good luck little man, you'll do great! He shows me his animal stances at home. He's all proud of himself.  Yeah, high five that little dude.
Ever since the conversation of the veggie challenge, back then, as a family, we have taken, *the dog just farted. Holy mother that's a terrible taste*. So, yeah, we have taken fairly drastic changes to what we eat. It's been a fantastic thing too. You can do so much with food! Whoa! My missus makes these energy balls, with all sorts of nuts and other good stuff like that and rolls them into balls, into the fridge and boom. Granola bar and fruit bites replacements.  Next we lost any sugary cereal, yes even capt crunch!! Last year we cut pop and chips to special occasions only. We just don't buy stuff like that anymore. Saturday night rolls about and I'm wanting snacks. We have a lot of potatoes just sitting in this bin waiting to be eaten! French fries. Home made. Shoot, that was easy, I said to myself. This weekend, potatoes chips. Yeah baby, yeah!  I gotta say, the missus has gone journeyman and literally filled half our cupboards with canning. And you know, about eighty percent of it came from the back yard. A little garden 7.5m by 4.5m can feed us for the fair majority of the winter.  And then I imagine....what could I do with an acre.... Possibilities are endless. So to sum up the challenge, no, I haven't cut out meat, entirely, but red meat is a near thing of the past. Chicken and fish are still thriving. And when that supply runs dry, well, who knows what will happen.

Anyways, I'm gonna let you go. Tomorrow is a bright new day.
See ya

Language Barriers

Hey there all!  Sunday funday. Today my oldest boy did his cubs swear in today. He enjoyed that.  I. Happy I was there to see him smile.  He wasn't sure what was going on, but, him and his buddies were getting bandanas! Sweet!!  The little things in life.  Glad I was there to share that with him.
This week, I don't know, not much happened.  Starting work and getting up at some redonculous hour in the mornings.  I think the worst part is having some many varying start times.  Hard to get a schedule going. But, I'm told it's for a good reason, so, so be it.
My youngest boy, is in Kung fu now. And two more kids about his age joined.  It's great.  He gets all amped up go to Kung fu and, on his own, he's off practicing.  He really wants to do well.  He tells my wife that he wants to practice and do well, so he can "take down dad" !! What a kid!! His nature of smash first, then smash more than maybe ask a question, comes straight from me.  Love it.  He constantly pushes my buttons. He knows exactly how to get a reaction and he has that "look" down to a T. And defiant! Man, that's a head against a brick wall time.  Some days I just smile at him and I remind myself more than him that I love him.  You know the days a guy just wants to put his kid in a closet and accident,y have the chair jam against the door and go for a walk? You know, those days.  Hahha. Could you imagine? Haha.  I would get whipped like a mule.
Training with him is surprisingly easy. He really wants to do well, and he tries hard.  Good stuff.  Training with anyone around, especially a young one, I find, I need to be aware of everything in my training.  Stance, rotation, intention.  Again, I slow down, and reminding myself to be grounded and try to flow with the movements.  Going slower, I have time to go though the checklist of movements and achieve technique.  You never know when those little eyes are watching and learning.  It's a challenge with me. One moment kids aren't in the room and I let go flurry of colourful and descriptive expressions and then the kids are in the room behind me, with looks of wonder and thoughtfulness. And I'm like fire truck...  I must admit, that I do love a child's tenacity.  I love how, some kids almost expect the best out of themselves and really push hard to do better.  He wants to do better in kindergarten so he whips out his books and does it. With no push from either of us.  He will do phonics books for literally hours if you let him.  I cut him off at half an hour. Like, that's enough of that edumoncating stuff boy!! No, no, I let him go for hours, I hope he enjoys himself.
Having kids, for me, is like having two life paths at once. I'm a firm believer that yes, I'm dad, and you do have to listen to me, but, you are still your own little being. They can make all their own decision, but, I still decide, what a bad one or not. You see,  I am merely a fortunate enough person to have the opportunity to have little people in my home.  I am their guide, life is our teacher. I am their rock, when a lesson is at hand. We always grow and learn together.

So if it's Kung fu or if it's life, I'm reminded again That's there's always room for improvement.

See you soon.
Mr.Duncan

Monday, 10 October 2016

monday is the new Sunday.

Great morning to all.  Good old thanksgiving has come and gone for us.  Today is our Sunday funday.  This weeks training took a dive Wednesday. I got some fricken flu, and that put me in the sidelines for a few days.  But, I keep pressing on. Like I have said there are goals to achieve.  The ribs are feeling okay. Did some work with Sihing on Saturday with his five techniques and one of them involves knee into ribs.  Hard. And I'm like, oh sweet mother, I love this so much.  The Sifu who was working with us, was demonstrating how to properly place and grind that knee.  Ouch. That's okay though. Gotta push through. Not just for me, but for Sihing.  He has asked for help and I will help no problem.  Just have to be cautious with the ribs.  Still tender.  But, that is a communication issue, on my end.  Doesn't help when my youngest boots me in the ribs while fighting for the Living Room Heavyweight Championship Title. Yeah, Big Bad Dad lost the fight and I'm no longer number one contender for the title.  That's cool.  I'll have to battle the oldest boy for contender placement again.  Haha.  I love it.  One thing that sifu really wanted to emphasize was selling the techniques. Gotta sell it. Okay, I will tap into the pro wrestling and really focus on selling his strikes.  Yeah, okay, this is going to be a fair amounts of fun.  I only wonder though, how will Sihing sell an elbow drop through a table? Or maybe I should pull out the wrestling tights? Am I taking this too far? Probably, but, I like to have fun with everything and if I can be serious and make progress, but still get a smile or laugh out of someone, goals achieved. I do look forward to continue working with Sihing on his techniques, and making it as realistic as we can, without, taking to an extreme level.  You know journeyman stuff!!
Overall, training has been great.  Asking lots of questions, doing a fair amount of reaserch with the escrimas. I found this video of a fellow, explaining a few things on what he thinks is critical about escrimas.  I really enjoyed his theories.  I've heard them before.  One stick is a shield, the other is a weapon.  Sure I have two sticks in my hands, but, ones a shield and ones a weapon.  Keep that in mind and truly the dynamics of the escrimas have greatly changed again.  So, continued work with different theories and ideas of the escrimas, and, the evolution of my knowledge of the escrimas will of course become greater as well.  And like I have said, I love my escrimas.  They are fantastic.  I love smashing people with them.  And, i try hard to ask different questions and talk about different theories during open training, with sifu.  And right there, you know, there is this huge fountain of knowledge, when it comes to anything Kung fu related, especially weapons during open training.  You just have to ask questions and the answers will come.  Just have to pay attention.
Today, I have to admit, I'm fairly volatile.  This morning I found concrete evidence, someone has been messing with my new car.  Now, I will admit, I pulled a dummy and left my doors unlocked and someone got in opened all my windows ransacked it for cash, or whatever, and where kind enough to leave the car open to the elements last night. Awesome snow and ice and water all over my interior.  There's a whole bunch of words and expressions that I can not use, because I might offend someone.  So, I asked the question to myself, one, how can you be so dumb to leave the doors open when there are drug houses all around us and drunks and addicts wandering the alleys? Your dumb will! Smarten up. And second, how can I solve this? Cops aren't going to do anything about it.  So, I will.  Hehehahahoho! What I'm going to do, is set up a trail cam and set it up so, when motion is detected, I get an email, and boom, my phone will notify me, and then, oh boy oh boy, I get to express my discontent with these cowards in person, face to face.  This is like the I don't know how many times I've noticed my vehicles have been messed with. I do not care if they are kids looking to mess with someone else's or adults looking for easy cash. I am not one to be trifled with and I am one who will not take it to the cops.  I will deal with it on my own accord.  With certain things, like hunting, I am very patient. I'm very methidical. These mofos, have no idea who they are messing with. Are there dangers and things that can happen? Absolutely there are. I do not care. Just because you are broke  does not give you the right to purposely wreck other people's things. Actions like this tell me you have no respect for others and their belongings, which means to me, the law of mutual respect means nothing to you.  Which in turn, allows me the ability to express to these people what will and will not be tolerated.  Will I be any better than them by breaking their arms, nope. I am fully aware of this. I gaurentee, when I finish with someone who has threatened myself and my family and my stuff, they will not do something like this again. Ever.  They will remember this lesson for the rest of their miserable lives!
So in any event, I have a few things to do, to prep for the upcoming week of slavery.
See you soon

Review

Well howdy-ho there people in internet land.  What's cracking? How's the weekend going? Good? Good! So the question was asked, what has I Ho Chuan done for you this year?  And then blog about it. Okay dokay. This year has been a great year in a lot of different terms. Even though, my training really took a hit. I learnt a fair bit about myself, especially in the beginning of the year. My little mental breakdown, showed me lessons in slowing down a finding balance.  Very much am I an extremist. I'm all in or nothing at all.  I'm glad I learnt that. Now, I can work on ways to find and stay balanced.  I knew this about me, but never was in a position to have to do something about it.  I.H.C. forced that fact about me, out and into the open.  Doing something like I Ho Chuan, the key for myself, the greatest tool I have, is balance. Balancing life and Kung fu training.  With balance comes other life lessons. Finding balance in your activities forces you to look at what you value and enjoy. You of course, will want to put more time in things you value over things you do not do.  So, there where bad habits I had, that I don't do anymore, because I could not justify doing them, because I could not find the value in it.  Therefore freeing up time to do the things I do enjoy, like training.  To be able to train at the level, we are asked, you must become creative with your training. Trying to throw out some reps and such when ever, where ever possible.
With that came very valuable lessons, for me to learn.  I got to a point where, I lost the value of a lot of my training.  I was just doing things for the sake of doing things.  And that was bothering me.  I lost the value of forms and the essence of push ups and sit ups. The discipline it brings.  I started falling back into old habits and routines.  I buggered up my shoulders by not listening to my body. I stared ignoring what was going on inside my demented mind, and routines fell apart. I was in all over the place mode. What Thursday is it, do I hit a meeting or do I hit up class? Not even sure what I needed to do anymore.  I really hit a low and turned off the lines of communication and pendulumed into thoughts and actions of old me. I lost the essence of what I had enrolled in. I knew better.
Today, now that I've removed head from arse and started training like I actually mean it. Training is much better. Kung fu has more of a deeper meaning for myself today, all because I, once again, value it's teachings. There was a great blog written just the other day by mr.sollinger, that put a lot into words for me.  That was the best blog I've read in a long time. It really hit home on how I have re-approached training. When I took time in the spring and summer, I really thought about what I value in my life. And Kung fu is one of the top values I have. I have goals in Kung fu that will happen. So, of course my perspective changes do doing the best that I can over the amount that I can do. And wait, what's that? Is that balance I hear rapping at my gate again? Oh it is! Imagine that!! And what comes with balance? Slowing down and breathing! Holy crap. The very essence of what I am trying to learn. To stay calm, when challenged in life. Isn't that the very basics of Kung fu? Staying calm. Man, back, full circle, to the basics.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, this year, I Ho Chuan, gave me lessons not only in Kung fu, but also in life. If I wish to have this life, there is a balance that needs to be found and routines to be followed.  Like we have been told, the path is ours for the taking. We just need to put one foot in front of the other every day, and all of a sudden you have taken 1000 steps towards your goals. I must keep what I value and my disciplines out in the for front each day, and I will achieve my goals. Each day do something that leads me to my goals. Push ups, sit ups, hand forms and do the best damn ones you can do. And why not? Because your lazy? Shoot no. Mean it, man, own that form, own that technique. Really and properly throw that combination.
Oh, what's this? Breaking news from the Smash Down League's headquarters. Tonight only there will be a special one on one falls count anywhere match, for the Living Room Heavyweight Title. Between none other than, the amazingly handsome Big Bad Dad. And his opponent will be the one, the only Goliath killer, the dad assassin, Alex "The Ssssttttuuuuuddddd!!!!" This one will be one for the ages folks. BBD is in for the fight of his career. The stud, promises to finish BBD off for good tonight!  "Im gonna take his knees then hit him with a 5 starred stud stunner" Alex the Stud, promised in an interview earlier today! In response, BBD promised to introduce Stud to the rug via, the Dad-driver!

Well, I figure that's all for now folks
Train on, eh!!

Too Sweet

"Hey yo! Survey time! How many of you came to read some generic blog? (This is where you kind of chear) How many of you came to read some high tempo, arse kicking high flying good stuff?(this is where you really chear.)Well, survey says, that's one more for the good guys!"  And then I flick a toothpick at the crowd. Haha! There is some Scott Hall. You know, Razor Ramon! The "bad guy"! I've been watching a lot of old wrestling from my youth! It's far better then this new wrestling crap that is out there today! And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold says so! And now, I go into numerous wrestling poses and taunts! Come on let's hear your favorite wrestling catch phrases! Don't be a jabronee! ;)

Okay, okay, let's get cracking on some Kung fu business (tiger stance)! Haha. I'm in a great mood today.  Things are looking up and routines are getting easier and easier to accomplish. Except I busted up some ribs and have a heck of a time with deep or heavy breaths, which is the majority of my breathing.  I've found the key to staying active with sore ribs. Slow steady breathes. Nothing to quick and take your time with the breath.  Frustrating as it can be, it's a blessing in disguise.  Slow down man. Remember to smell the flowers before, the frost finishes them off! With that, though, I keep training.  Nothing much on the heavy bag this weekend.  That hurts after a bit. Throwing heavy punches on The heavy bag really jars the ribs. So I wonder about my stance, and it's not bad.  Not to mention I have my wife chirping in the back ground, you shouldn't be doing that. What if they are broke and what if something shifts will. Then what? Then you have a punctured lung or something, all because your stubborn.  Stupid voice of reason. Fine, what should I do then? Crickets. And I'm back on the heavy bag. Just slowing down. Haha. But, the Escrimas don't hurt as much. Not that I'm going to admit anyways. I have progress to make. There are goals to be accomplished. Bruised ribs or not, greatness waits for no one. And I plan on being f'n awesome and leaving people awestruck! Yeah wow, I'm kinda feisty today!  That's cool. Will make for an interesting day.

You know something though, this past month has been really cool.  Training is back on top. I have been working on this one technique to help with fast hands and I recently realized that this technique is sport training.  I've been crushing this for a while now and it's been sport training all along! Ha, imagine that. Ingrained techniques and I didn't even know it! That's cool.  So, the tiger challenge is almost in our laps.  I really enjoy the challenge. Always have.  You get to pit your skills, in a friendly manner with yourself and everyone around you.  Everyone gets to see exactly where in their training they are at that level. A very useful tool. I think anyways, this is the best opportunity to see, how well you know your stuff. No redos, no mulligans, just go in and give it everything you have got.  I'm excited.  Every tournament I have attended, i have learnt lots. And normally I learn the most when I loose or do not do as well, as I thought I would. Lessons in humility and skills. It's a great time for everyone.  I love the challenge at hand. Everyone is at the top of their game, it's up to you to step up to the plate and crush some forms. I, just hope that my own training and stuff, is up to par. And I know I have lots to do yet, so u best get training.  These stupid ribs need to hurry up and heal, or naw, I don't care. I have a goal, and I'm going to achieve it!! Hahaha!

Speaking of things healing, I have had great success with my shoulder.  On Monday night I managed to hit 120 push-ups in a short period of time without hearing the clicking and popping.  Great! That tells me, the small weighted workouts I'm doing with the shoulders are paying off. Took some time, but it's happening. For me, I found strictly doing push ups, was only building strength and condition in one direction.  And I didn't start changing it up until the continuos motion damage was done. My bad.  I guess, for my body, I need to train the whole shoulder not just in and out.  So, I've been doing workouts that involve circular motions in the shoulder, up, down, left, right, in, out and behind. And the results are fantastic! I knew better too. But, that's cool. Another lesson learnt.

Well, I have some dad skilled-negotiating only to do with the oldest, in regards to him making an allowance. Scavengers! I pay for you and now I gotta pay you!? What the what kinda deal is this!? They are all scavengers! No I'm Kidding!! Hahaha. Its worth atleast a smile! It's all good. Time for him to start learning some life lessons, like these ones! I'll pay for you to clean up the doggie do do, but not to do the dishes!

Okay time to roll out!
See you soon.

breathing

Good Sunday to all.  How is it hanging today?  It's really good here.  I'll tell you what.  Pancakes and smoothies! As a team we have been having quite the lengthy vegetarian conversations.  That's cool.  I am not overly keen on the idea, but, the conversation did come home with me.  My wife and I have taken measures to start eating cleaner.  With the term mindful eating, came the question, how can we change? What can we do? We looked at prices just for myself to go full vegetarian for 30 days, and it was a fair bit of money. I'm not talking about those garbage protein drinks either, you can keep that crap. Read the ingredients and you will know what I'm talking about. Talk about chemicals. So, we started looking for ways to further eat cleaner. And so, we can and have started substituting store bought granola bars and snacks for home made granola balls. Sweet. They taste great and are packed with all sorts of seeds and "super foods" and they are home made.  Start making more effects to cut out sugars and salts. And replace them with flax seeds and hemp seeds etc, etc. Natural sugars and salts if you might.  We are quite excited about doing this in our home.  As for eating veggie. I said to the missus. I will do what I need to, to eat less meat. You keep cooking how you see fit for the family.  Mindful eating.  I know exactly where my meat eggs and the majority of our veggies come from. I have no problem eatin Bambi or his family. Oh thumper, you're so cute...and tasty.  It's the dairy and fruits we don't know exactly where they come from. Burning questions. How can I get a dairy cow into my back yard without pissing off my neighbors? How much pesticides and herbicides have been used, and all of a sudden I realize, just how filthy our food is.  Words my sister in law said to me a few years ago. No matter how hard we try to eat clean, there is always some body spraying something somewhere. Ohh I'd like to find that guy, and introduce him to my Escrimas.  Even just growing your own food.  No matter how clean you try to be, you cannot get away from pesticides and herbicides. It's been used so much in so many places, that it's every where.  Our land and air is "poisoned" it's up to us, to do our best to combate corporate poisoning. Unless you have a completely cut off and separate ecosystem from the rest of the world, like a dome or something, with dirt cleaners, you're eating chemicals. That's science, and that's coming from someone who went to university for "tree hugging" I don't know the excact term. This woman knows more about the worms than I do about an entire ecosystem.  So, the long and short of it is this, I will continue to cut red meat down from my diet and push for better fuel for my system. Will I completely cut meat? Maybe eventually red meat, but I highly doubt, I'll ever say no to my chickens and fish. red meat? Okay, let's start the transition.

So, back to Kung fu, I have been pushing hard on the Escrimas and I think they are flying nicely.  The hum of them swinging about, is stronger and louder.  It's hypnotysing. I like to get lost in the sounds and just close my eyes and listen to my weapons. Maybe I'm really weird, which I am, but I like to believe they are singing when the weapons get moving like they can. Escrimas sound much different then my stick, which in turn sound much different than nunchuck.  These sounds seem to be a type of mediation for me. I do honestly feel, a sense of oneness, with the weapon when I can hear their songs. That's powerful. That's the purpose being my training. A oneness with my weapon and myself. A spiritual connection that takes no effort. Effortless effort.  The essence behind what we are trying to accomplish in I Ho Chuan.

Saturday, I got some feedback on my form and got some assistance in fighting the spear. One part of my form, I tear after some poor soul who brought a spear to an escrima fight!! And I was looking for quick efficient ways to make up ground and feed a butt end to someone almost ten feet away.  I got options and answers form Sifu Playter. Great Scott! That's so simple Sifu. Awesome. I'm Over thinking again. It's really mind blowing how, forms just evolve over time.  With no thought or effort, the form changes, sometimes slightly, sometimes it's a huge change. But, these forms we create are living entities. And of course they should change and adapt with and to us. It only makes sense. Especially, if you think they do breath on their own and are their own being.  Tapping into the powers of our for-fathers and asking the Kung fu gods for guidance.  We will find our answers.

And I would like to go here today too.  Saturday, we closed off open training with some friendly sparring. I learnt a lot from getting bopped by fellow spar-ers. Where I am strong, where I am slow. How well conditioned I am? Terrible absolutely deplorable conditioning. After three rounds, I could not breath. I literally had no breath. So bad, that Sifu stopped to ask if I was okay. Yeah, I felt ridiculas, emberassed, stupid. Can't even have a friendly sparring match, without being gassed after one maybe two minutes.  Okay. I see now. Smoking. Oh I hate you, but, I love you, no, I hate you. No, I love you. It's a suicidal relationship with a scared child inside of me. Listen, I'm scared.  Scared to let go. And I know, no matter how much every one cheers and whoop whoops, it's still on me. And, I haven't been committed to completely changing, my life. I still do not want to let go yet. I guess, I'm not ready. With booze, I had to die. I had to look the devil and the grim reaper in the eyes, feel their grip on my being, before I would change. Stubborn and stupid. Now, I ask, how in the heck am I going to achieve any of my life goals when I stuck in the hospital, with tubes coming out of my throat and face and arms and eating chemo, just to live. Being fed by a tube at the ripe age of 50. How in the front door, is that going help me? Hey? You don't know either.  I've watched cancer take two relatives and watched my mother fight for her life. Do you think that would be enough to catapulte me and quit? No, they have been gone for almost twelve years. Hasn't sunk in. And, I'll never forget looking my uncle in the eyes to tell him I loved him, one last time, as they went cold and grey, and breath exited his lungs for the last time. That's what is waiting for me. Months of fighting in a hospital, needles and poking and prodding, all for nothing. Truly and honestly, just to leave this world, broken and defeated, by a cancer.

Mindfulness has really been huge for me. Mindful breathing and mindful purpose. What am I doing? Where am I! Is this helping or hindering? And, you know, I think I have two personalities, fighting for superiority in my body. And it seems the dark side always wins.  That's cool. Him and I are going to throw down.  I'm programming this addiction that is smoking.  Just like I did with the booze. It's going to suck, I'm going to be a miserable sob, but, only short term. And I know I can do it. Like I've said befor, I whipped on crack and booze. If I can silence that little demon, why not smoking? Fear. It always comes down to fear. I'm scared of letting go. I'm scared of starting new habits, and starting fresh.  Biggest step of my life. I'm going to take it again. Stubborn? yup! Keep your pills and propaganda, I'm honestly going to just look at the facts of my life. I've never worked smoking, like I have the booze. That was scary enough to keep me off the booze, and hard drugs, though yes, I near relapsed in the spring, but I'm okay now. I have my program back in order and it's time to just be a man and do this. Time to show myself, just exactly whom I am.

I have never know me, to not be a smoker. So, hi, I'm will, I'm your mind and soul.  I'm your conscience. I'm what is going to drive you wild u till you quit. I'm what is going to keep you up at night. I'm the fly in your ear as you try to sleep, and I'm not leaving until you beat this stick of death!

In any event, I will see everyone soon
Thanks for your time
Mr.Duncan

today

Hey yo!  Sunday is here again.  You know it was really nice to be at class Thursday night.  I blew half my meeting, to see what the team has been doing.  It's hard to see where everyone is at and what everyone is doing, when I'm never around. So, I decided to head in and check it out.  it was a nice reminder about what we are truly trying to obtain in this journey that is I Ho Chuan.  A life of mastery of the art form that is traditional Kempo Kung fu.  Yes, that was the reminder I was looking for.  Especially now, that class has fired back up in onoway, there was a time in class on Wednesday, that was obvious, I haven't been as engaged as I have been or should be.  That's cool, I'll get it all back.  Sifu is looking hard in my direction and its up to me to step up to the plate and show by example what he is asking of us as students.  One things for sure, is that I really missed class over the summer, but the break really was nice.  I did some training, but not as much as I had wanted to do.  But hey, we had a killer summer and spent a lot of time with the family.  That's what is important.  School is back in and so, the mind set changes to work as opposed to play and schedules are becoming far more prevalent in their importance to structure in my life.

Training is coming again. Some days quickly some days slowly. A lot of my training habits come down to mindfulness. What am I doing? Changing my perspective again. Short attention span or something, right. Like a squirrel. But, wait, pause...the mighty Escrimas..oh my sweet girls, I love them.  I have been playing with one at a time a little bit last night. That's always fun. Changing things up for just one of two weapons.  One handed the escrima is really intimate. I find anyways.  The butt end becomes more noticably useful. Changes the dynamics of the game a fair bit.  One of the Sifus in onoway, gave me some feedback on the escrima form and, I'm going to implement it in.  Stopping and taking a breath! Yeah, that's a great idea! That part of my form has been a bit of a stumbling block and now, there is light. At that point I was always speeding up and forgetting about form. Looking more like a movie than Kempo. Yeah! That's fantastic.  Constructive criticism. Speaking of which I got a fair bit of that on this dance I have been working on. Fantastic.  Options and details to think and ponder upon.  Experience shared and details already thought about, now how do I adapt the dance in a forward motion? That's a good direction to be going with in anything.  Like we where told, the map is there, all we got to do is follow it! Absolutely nailed it. Okay. Thanks Sifu

The signs and lights are in place, just keep my eyes open, and stick to the plan. Letting go of control and letting things be. Follow a plan of success while carving my own path. Sounds difficult, but, really it's not, just being conscious of my actions and thoughts.  That's the tough part. Training my mind to follow the plan. It gets easier with practice, that much I do know for sure.  So with one of my favorite lines "here we go!" The vegetarian diet yeah okay, let's do it. My youngest boy looked at me crosseyed when I said no meat! I laughed and clarified just for me. There's a lot of positives that can come from this and I am curious to see for myself the results. So I'm down for it, and like I says to the wife the decision is mine what I eat, you keep doing what you do best. And that's cook! It would be best to do right now in the fall, so I'm going to start cutting back on meats, not saying I am stopping, but I will start slowing down on the intake. Baby steps here people!

Okay I'm heading out now.
See ya soon.

look at the beautiful mice

Hey there. How's it cracking? Man I'm doing well. This week was defiantly a  trying week. Numbers took a serious hit. All my time at home has been spent dealing with mice. A fricken infestation is what it is. Man alive was it disgusting.  Fricken mice everywhere. I've trapped 6 of them, shot three and there is still three more, that I know of. Oh, man, my blood is boiling.  I don't mind mice, as long as they are somewhere else. Not in my garage/ training Center.  So, there has been a huge lesson in cleanliness and keep feed and shaving put away properly.  And I have learnt that those little rubber gloves, do not fit my hands.  That was funny. Try to be smart and not get this super disinfectant all over my skin and then, I can't get the gloves off.  We would let the cat do her job, but, Bane won't let her off of her perch, let alone into the yard.  So, my Sammy cat doesn't get to hunt. Oh, and the dog likes to eat the spray foam, while I'm using it. Jesus, his stomached I thought was going to fill up, but I stopped him before he got too much into him. More of a state of shock on that little stunt, pulled by Bane. I still think it would be easier to have an accident and burn the garage to the ground.....oh that's a bad idea? I guess I'll just keep cleaning then.
But, in the time I did make for training, i continued making progress with the Escrimas.  Working on fine tuning the forms. Slowing down, is the key right now.  Purposeful selective movements.  Checking my breath and stances before moving to the next move.  It's been a challenge simply because I get caught up in the form itself and then all of a sudden I'm done! And, that's not the intended goal right now.  Working on form and technique. Must move slow to ensure things are proper before moving on.  On the other side of that coin, I pushed hard in achieving four punches in under a second. I will have hands of speed when this is said and done.  I'm averaging three in about a second. Four in about a second and a half. I have found it's hard to time these things, so, I go by feel. I know how long a second feels like. Now, it's a matter of getting the hands and the feelings to unify with that feeling.
Even saying that, I must slow down the punches to ensure skeletal alignment and proper technique, before I can worry about speed and power.  This is different than being in a horse stance and chucking punches off the hip. That's no problem to hit four punches in a second. From a fighting stance, worrying about stance and foot movement and placement does slow a guy down.  Besides what's the point of throwing a punch if your not grounded properly?  That's you throwing wild, uncontrollable punches and getting knocked on your keister is what that is! With everything though, time and patience and I will achieve my goals.  The key to this achievement is to relax, to breathe. To find peace with my movements.
In other news, I have tasked myself with the job of designing and detailing a dragon dance. I find peace in illustrating a story in my little book of tricks. It's something I wanted to try to do and so I will do.  You know something, I'm really enjoying myself.  For me, I have set no expectation that this will be used.  I want to know if I can atleast get this out of my head and onto paper. From visualized to explained on paper. It's a bit harder task than anticipated. But, I do enjoy a good challenge.  Because, I'm very peculiar, I wish to "see" the movements, person by person section by section, before it makes sense to me.  It can be slow and tedious, but it gives me a better understanding of what is going on.  So, I will sketch out a move and then look to the mechanics of it.  And ask the questions of feasibilities and hardness of  the technique. So far I have, put together something really neat.  In my head it looks awesome. The only difficult part is sketching out the lion. I do not understand the movements or techniques as I've only been in one in a parade. This will have to be further addressed!
I will end here, it's sad to announce, but actions where taking to suspend the Living Room Federation due to antics inside and outside the ring! My youngest , Sin Cara, is having a hard time deciding when it is and is not okay to start throwing punches and where to place these punches. And the oldest, The Stud,  is having a heck of a time with control, and not pinning you down and strengthning his knuckles on your ribs. And so, unfortunately the belt hard to be retired.  For now! A lesson in moderation here boys. Turning into a full blown brawl! Haha! My bad.

Anyhow, I'm going to sign off here folks.
See ya soon

Just another good day

Sunday Sunday, here again I tidy attire.  Yeah! How's it going people?  My day is great thus far.  Feeling pretty invincible right now.  It's amazing what happens when you honestly training again.  The feeling of awesomeness just rips through the body, and keeps the soul happy.  For me any ways.  Numbers are climbing again, and Sifu is right. The numbers are as important as the training. the numbers are important to continue pushing on.  One of the basic lessons of I Ho Chuan, I decided to ignore.  Not today, and hopefully not tomorrow. The greatest combatant of smoking I have in my arsenal right now, is Kung fu.  It's really hard to throw combos with a dart hanging from my mouth! Haha. I've tried it though! Hahaha. Addict to the bone, I am.  Meh, it's coming. No need to stress about it.  I know I'm going to quit, it's just a matter of time, today.
Yesterday, was gramps birthday.  So, we all go and hang with gramps.  Celebrate his day with him. just about everyone was there.  And, ya know, I was happy to see everyone.  There's family members I'm not overly fond of, but, you can't pick family.  And, seeing how, I am the only one who admitted his problems and moved towards solutions as opposed to smashing my face into the wall continuously, my cousin wanted my help and advice.  He's struggling with the drugs and alcohol. So, away for a conversation we go. I do not mind. I'm happy to help any and all who ask for it.  I offered solutions and aid, for his problems.  And , honestly, that's all I can do.  He wanted a quick fix.  And quick solution to a lifetime of abusing. I chuckled with him and said, "No, life isn't that easy. It never has been and it never will be.  The only way to solve your problems is to get to the root of your evils. Not moving here or there. Not running and hiding. Not just a conversation.  Hard work, full of honesty."  He's not ready yet.  That's okay. One day you will be and I will be waiting for your call.  I suggested her reads Peace is every step. That's a book that really catapulted my spiritualism.  When I'm feeling blue, I find a flower and look at its smile until, I start to smile.  I find peace knowing that I am not alone in this world.  That's comforting all in itself.  So, I wished him the best of luck and I do truly hope he finds what he's looking for.  After all, he is blood. Never turn your back on blood. It's all we have that will never change. Friends, people, places and things come and go and change.  Not family. They are with you forever.

Kung fu training! Has been doing well.  I have been finding this free time, that I just couldn't find before.  Out of pure laziness, I wasn't even looking to make time.  But, today, perceptions have been altered and new outlooks found. Great.  Training in the kwoon on Saturdays, is awesome.  Seeing everyone and conversing with a few of them is wonderful.  I'm feeling like a member of the team again.  I know I have always been, but, it's different, when your training and trying to make a difference on the team. Working with Sihing, really forces me to focus and settle down. It forces me to step up my game. Check stances proper punches and strikes and to fall properly. Try to not fight the flow, and just roll with the neck chops!! My Escrimas are feeling great man.  Love them.  I have been practicing without the sticks, just to check flow and ya know, there's work that has to happen, but, it feels good. If I go at a steady pace, it honestly feels like tai chi. The movements, the circles, the flow. It just feels right.  So onward and upwards with it.  Keep pushing for mastery.
"These are my Escrimas! There are many like them, but, these ones are mine. My Escrimas are my best friends. They are my life. I must master them as I must master my life. Without me, my Escrimas are useles. Without my Escrimas, I am useless. My Escrimas and I know what counts in war is not the swings we make, the noise of our sound focus, nor the Air we move. We know it is the hit that counts. We will hit.... Before you I swear this creed. My Escrimas and I are defenders of our Kung fu traditions. We are masters of our enemies. We are saviours of my life"
Hey, a little bit of an altered "rifleman's creed" And I do, mean this with the utmost respect and admiration, and seriousness.

I made time to talk to a few teammates about the dragon dance Saturday, heard concerns about training as a team on Fridays and Saturdays. It was good conversation. Only I missed Sifu Lidstrom. Sorry I missed you, but you and Sifu Prince looked very happy hugging on the mats! I didn't want to interupt!!  Just kidding I will catch you next week!  But, I talked to the team about dragon dancing on Fridays.  I truly understand everyone's concerns about burning out, training on Fridays or Saturday's,
as well as being in the kwoon all week. I get it. We will find a solution as a team.  And I flat out admitted, that moving to a Friday night or a Saturday afternoon, is a "selfish desire" that is almost mine alone.  Seeing as my thursday nights are booked tight.  But like I said, last year we had a really awesome dance.  We did! It was awesome.  My desire, is to build a dance and destroy last years performance.  I truly want to build something as a team, that is untouchable, for I Ho Chuan teams coming up.  Just ponder with me for a second, and think what we could accomplish with one hour a week set aside for the dragon and the dragon alone. We could build a performance that the crowd is going to wet themselves over, and we can do it I know we can! After all we are masters in training. Something I feel in my bones. And maybe it's just me placing my hand over panic mode at times, but, we are now in the later half of the year and, I feel, we have to start making big strides in a big way, very quickly, or we will be under the gun again, like last year. I would like to avoid that, but it's going to take some serious investments of time and energy on all of our be halves. The spotlight is going to be shining brightly on us very quickly and we need to have something together. And we will, because that's what we do!

Any ways I am excited for the dragon and working with the team again!

Well, I hope everyone has a great day.
Talk to you soon

A Fresh Breath

Happy Sunday's to all and to all a good Sunday. Boy, yesterday was a good day. I was able to get into the kwoon, have a good conversation and get in some training.  It was nice to see who was there, again.  Boy, I miss training on Saturdays. It was a lot of fun.  I had the opportunity to work with Sihing Chevenka on his techniques. I had a good time. i learnt some cool things just from him smashing me around! No, it wasn't that bad. Which reminds me to work on my falls.  I was able to get in some knee breaking and face caving in with my gorgeous escrimas.  I just love them.  I love it when they hum I love it when they break things.  A match made in heaven. Me and my little sticks of pain. It feels so when practicing with them.

So, our meeting on Saturday.  It was an eye opener.  A bit of a head shaking and a time to reset. I was feeling kinda bad about my numbers. Not overly, but, it was there.  We have our reasons to not train and our excuses as to why something takes precedent over our training.  But like it was explained at the meeting. They are just that excuses. Okay Sifu. I hear ya. What am I going to do about it.  Well, I have to uphold my end on the bargain.  I got thinking during parts of the meeting, that, Our teachers are always here for us. Always. And all they ask, is that we hold up our end of the deal.  Push ups sit ups and hand forms and the other requirements. I would like to say, hell yeah I'm just flying right now, but I'm not.  Not in the physical aspects of Kung fu.  I need to stop right here for a second.  I was chatting with a neighbor the other day and I was telling him about I Ho Chuan. And I had to really push out the words, I'm a martial artist. I study traditional Kempo styled Kung fu.  Saying those words felt like a bold faced lie. And if you know me, one thing I despise, is being lied to or lying.  Even the smallest fib coming out of my mouth drives my mind insane. So I do not.  But after the words where spewed out of my face, I felt instant shame. Afterwards,  I said to myself, will, it's time to make a decision.  Are we going to rock this I Ho Chuan or what? We did this last year. Are we going to do this, or are you okay with being okay?  I took the night and I really fought with this topic in my mind. But, I did come out with the decision that I'm sick of being okay. Five years ago, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and I changed my life.  Same thing today. Today I'm tired of being good enough, and I have been for a few months. Tired of insesintalty looking for excuses and reason to justify my laziness.  The mind and spirit are pretty well off right now. It's time to complete the change.

so, the answers are pretty well laid out plain and simple. Start elevating my training time again. I did enjoy watching my numbers grow on paper last year, so, yes, the books out and pencils sharpened.  Big parts of my eating habits need to be altered as well.  Not eating right and skipping meals and such, it's not healthy. That's a big part of my laziness is I'm not eating like I need to be.  That's just being silly. I know better than that. And it's not like these things are hard to do. It is the constant vigilance and awarness of where you are and what are you doing that's difficult. That's what it boils down to.  Engagement of the mind to remain aware of your presence.

And besides, New years is coming up quickly.  My goal is to not look like a jerk at New Years. Man on fire!  Maybe I should get addicted to Kung fu, like I do booze and cigarettes!! Hahaha! It's funny come on. If you can not laugh at yourself then you do not know humour.  The first step is the smoking.  Time to be done now.  Right like how many times does a guy have to try to quit? Well, once if he's honest about it.  Today's the day. Today I put down the smokes and start breathing. Mark it! Mark it on your calanders.  I'm scared as truck though! It's okay. One breath at a time.  Maybe I should mark clean breaths in my booklet.  The minds already running into panic mode. Ha!  Overdrive. Feels like I'm hitting a massive flaming jump over the Grand Canyon in an exploding semi truck at like five hundred kilometres an hour!  But It's okay. One breath at a time. I can have that. I've earned it. Just one.

Okay well, I'm all typed out here, and I want to hit something, so I will see you on the flip side!

Thanks for your time
Mr.Duncan
